Find Out Where You’re Logged In

We all log into Facebook through our phones, laptops, or friends’ laptops. Sometimes we can forget where we have been logged into. Lucky for us, you can check all the places that you are currently logged into. Facebook provides all of this data, and this feature is very easy to find.

  • Go to Settings >> Security Settings >> Where You’re Logged In
  • Ta-da! You’ll find a list of devices that are accessing your Facebook account

Send Files Using Messenger

Once upon a time, Messenger was just what it sounds like, a messenger-like email. This service has been bulked up a bit. This give you the ability to make phone calls, hold video chats, send money and other things. One of the newest abilities is that you can send Word docs, PDFs, photos, and even short videos by Messenger. You can also now use Dropbox to send files. Amazing!

Here’s how to use it:

Download the Dropbox and Messenger apps on your mobile device.

Here’s how it works:

  • Open the Messenger app.
  • Select the contact you would like to send the files to
  • Tap the More button. Tap Open next to the Dropbox listing
  • Select the file you want to send. Dropbox will create a link for the file and download it to your gadget temporarily. If the file is large, you must wait for the download to complete before sending.
  • Once the file is downloaded and ready to send, switch back to Messenger app.
  • Tap the Send option for the file. This is to confirm that you really want to send it.

Check Message Request Folder

Many important messages can go to your request folder and be unseen. If someone is trying to reach you that isn’t your friend yet, they can be sent to this little hidden folder. It can take months, weeks, and even years for you to see this secret little compartment.

If you haven’t checked this little folder, you should take a look to see if you have any messages awaiting you. To find this secret folder, go to Messenger >> Settings >> Message Requests >> See Filtered Requests. This will reveal those messages that have been hidden from you.

Set Up A Legacy Contact

These scenarios are becoming more and more common as we grow older. A friend or loved one passes away and everyone is sad about the loss. You realize that the deceased still has an active Facebook account, but nobody can access it.

You can set up a “legacy contact”- someone who will take over your account after it’s owner dies. The legacy contact can save all materials, alert contacts that the person is no longer alive, and prevent the account from sending out automatic friend requests.

To set this, tap Settings >> Account Settings >> Security >> Legacy Contact. Then just pick someone from your contacts.

Add Trusted Contacts

A trusted contact is someone who can help you get back into your account if you get locked out. It is similar to if someone had an extra key to your house.

To select trusted contacts, open Settings >> Account Settings >> Security >> Your Trusted Contacts >> Choose Trusted Contacts. Then, just like your legacy contact, you can pick from your full list of friends.

Opt Out Of Advertisements

You will receive advertisements based on your perceived interests. Some of us really appreciate our privacy, and snooping can be unsettling.

To do this, open Settings >> Account Settings >> Ads

You will have categories that you can choose yes or no from.
