Top 5 Highest Paid Influencers On Social Media

When you’re trying to reach greater heights, it’s always a good idea to take a look at those who are already there and see what they’re doing for a little bit of inspiration.  Whether you’re a business trying to grow your brand or just someone that’s trying to make it as a social media celebrity, the journey to become a big timer is a long and challenging one. From creating eye-catching and engaging content to establishing a huge following of users that enjoys your posts and keeps coming back for more, there’s a lot that goes into creating a successful profile.

While most of the top paid influencers on social media are either celebrities or professional athletes, we’ll be looking at things beyond their fame that make their profiles and content so attractive to the masses, and how you can use those elements and strategies to boost your own social presence.

#1 - 3: Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, & Cristiano Ronaldo

Like we said, celebrities and athletes are at the top of the social media food chain, but are you really surprised? Probably not.  Gomez, Kardashian, and Ronaldo are essentially Instagram royalty, making anywhere between $400,000 - $500,000 per sponsored post that they make on their profiles. How is this possible? Well brands and advertisers want to reach their followers that are over 100 million each.  If you’re thinking now, “OK Adwizar, of course these people make bank because their celebrities, but what does that mean for me?”, we’ll say “No way! We were thinking that too and were just about to go into that! Such perfect timing”.

The interesting things with celebrity social media profiles is that they have a unique disadvantage to start out with: information on celebrities and what they’re doing is already covered on so many channels, from gossip magazines to online news sites.  So their goal is create content that is unique, giving people access to something that they can’t find anywhere else.  Things like a sneak peak into their latest project, behind the scenes at a photoshoot, or even just a view into their normal, family life, break the norm from what people see about celebrities everywhere else.

With this in mind, think about your own profile and try to adopt a similar mindset. Ask yourself, how are you going to set yourself apart from the millions of other people and business out there? What kind of unique content can you create to draw people in? The answer is going to be different for everyone, but asking the right questions is where everyone needs to start.

#4: PewDiePie

We could have put a few more celebrities’ Instagram profiles on this list for your “top 5 paid influencers” but we wanted to mix things things up a bit to give you some more insight. This is where the highest paid YouTube star, PewDiePie, comes in.  PewDiePie made grew to fame and YouTube riches thanks to his series of “Let’s Play” videos, where he plays video games while recording his commentary and reactions throughout.  While many other channels put out similar “Let’s Play” videos, PewDiePie has gathered almost 50 million subscribers to his channel, and makes about $15 million per year off of his video content.

How did he get this way? Many people have asked the same thing and done some extensive research into his content and what makes it so attractive to those who contribute to his hundreds of millions of views. What it really comes down to is the way he interacts with his audience and how they see him as a genuine and relatable person.  Of course, not to all and not all the time, as he has been slammed big time after he made some rude or racist remarks for which he had to release public apologies for.  But overall, he talks to his audience like they’re his equals, he creates conversations with his audience about things they care about, and he is typically just being himself for better or worse in some cases.

What you should take from this is that audiences value someone who is genuine. A big part of a successful social media profile is engagement, but to get that engagement you need an audience that finds you approachable and accepting of whatever it is they have to say.

#5 Nike

While not a highest paid individual, Nike finds it’s place on this list because they have a great social media presence that enhances their brand, helping them reach bigger audiences and sell more of their product. In fact, they have one of the highest follower counts for a brand on Instagram, only behind National Geographic.  The biggest factor with Nike’s social strategy is the way they highlight their products, using high-quality photography and video to put their products and brand in the best possible light.

While this is a simple lesson that may be more like common sense, always do your best to create high-quality content for your audience. People can tell how much time and effort you put into creating the things that you put in front of them, so show them that you care and don’t be lazy.
